Eons ago, in the darkest hour,
Sat King Arthur with twelve knights
Melancholy enveloped them
As they sought to fight a futile fight.
King Arthur was great, he was good and wise
Wise to know that peace would be hailed
Yet he sought to fight the futile fight
Since his reputation was at stake.
The twelve nights and he,
Sought to fight a futile fight
They galloped down the winding country road
Through the bleary night.
On the long journey King Arthur thought,
Of the brave hearts that would die
Of their grieving half back at home
Of the soldiers fighting this futile fight.
All of a sudden, “Halt!” he commanded
The twelve perplexed nights pulled on their reins
Great Arthur said “Peace will prevail!”
And turned round to his home through the dusty plains
The moist- eyed knights followed suit
And did not fight this futile fight
Great King Arthur, bringer of peace
Saved many a despairing cry.
All for peace :)
